2 questions, bleeding after surgery & braces wires

The first, I just had my 2 and 15 molars removed, the back teeth at the top and they stitched them up and put gauze. and gave me more gauze to change them and after all the time has passed and the gauze has come out im still seeing blood coming out of my mouth. It's been 10 hours now and its still coming out. Is this normal?

Also, when they put on the thin braces wires that twists around the brackets under the main wire, what do those do? Like what are they supposed to be doing?

I have never had surgery/extractions in my mouth, so I can't answer the one about that.

But I believe the wires that surround the brackets are lace ties, I don't know what those do because I've never had those.

My gums stopped bleeding fairly quickly after my surgery (I think, I was kind of loopy). Your surgeon should have given you a fact sheet and information about just this such thing.

Is it a lot of blood, or just a little? You might want to give the office a call, I'm sure they can tell you right away if you should still expect bleeding 10 hours after the surgery, but my guess would be it's expected - unless of course it's gushing out, then I'd say get in there right away.

The only teeth I have had taken out are my wisdom teeth. They told me that it was normal to bleed for up to 24 hours. If it continues or gets worse you may want to call your dentist just to make sure everything is ok.

I don't know about extractions. But I believe the thing you have around your brackets is to close up holes but I'm not exactly sure. Just ask your orthodontist.
Good Luck!
