Gum Trouble

Now thankfully I am going to a regular dentist (for the first time since primary school mind you) on Tuesday to get fillings and the like so I can ask him about this.. but in the meantime...

I'm having an issue with the gum above one of my braced teeth. Just in the last few days it has been bleeding a hell of a lot when I brush and it is really sore, when I look at it it looks more red than the rest of my gum and it looks like it is covering more of my tooth, if that is even possible. When I use my little in between brush thingy (sorry I don't know proper terms) it is hard to fit it up there because it pokes into the gum.. I swear it didn't do that before.

I'm guessing I have some sort of infection or something, but I don't understand how I got it or why. Has anyone had anything like this before? It's starting to drive me mad, the pain isn't severe, but it's starting to bother me and now I'm scared all my teeth are going to fall out! (I've been having nightmares where my gums separate from my mouth and all my teeth and gums are hanging out, charming I know!)

I'd love to hear from anyone who has experienced something similar :S

Talk to your orthodontist. It is often very normal for your gums to recede or become swollen because the movement of your teeth. It needs time to adapt to the movement. The gums will settle back in time. But still ask your ortho to take a look. Do warmwater salt rinses at least 3 times a day everyday. This really helps sooth and heal your gums.
