    Unhappy Invisalign mistakes?

    Hey, everyone ...
When I took a look at the next set I was supposed to start wearing this Wednesday (set 3 for the bottom, set 4 for the top), I thought "Why does the bottom set look smaller?" I discovered that the bottom set is completely unusable due to a production error. Specifically, there is no coverage for my 2 wisdom teeth and the bump-outs for the buttons are wrong (4 are missing, and 2 are where they should not be). I immediately compared this set with the next two (sets 4 and 5), and they are fine.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of production mistake? My dentist told me that he's never heard of this happening, and he will take care of resolving this with Invisalign. Needless to say, I'm not too happy, and I'm quite surprised, considering the cost of the braces. Please let me know if this has happened to any of you. Thanks much.

i havent had a production mistake.. but my lowers are considering wider, since my jaw is much wider on the bottom...

I originally thought they were WAY too tight, but that means they are working fast..

I've never encountered an error like that, but I have had sets that seems too tight, and sets that seem too loose. I can see movement and gaps in my teeth, so I know they are working.

My ortho always has me save the last set for "emergencies". Hopefully you'll get this straightened out soon.

When I finished all my treatment and went in for my retainer, the first one wasn't even close to fitting my bottom teeth. It looked like it might have been for someone else.

My dentist simply called it a production defect, ordered another one, and the second one came in after about a week and fit fine.

Guess it happens. Molds, plastics, high volume ... they're bound to screw up once in awhile.

awwwh, that's a bummer! I know how we all look forward to changing them out and moving on the next set! not to mention seeing how our teeth will/may change after we change out! Hopefully the set comes in soon!

Sorry to hear about the mistake. There should be some accountability for this negligence to repeat itself over and over and over again!!!!!!!!

I am on metal braces, seems to catch more attention. Seems like alot of the population is using braces now in particular the metal ones. This week saw the cashier at grocery store (20-30 yrs), lady at event (50-60 yrs), 2 girl (18-25) on subway wear metal braces,etc..

I am using elastics for 7 weeks now, and on braces for just over three mouths. I am now able to bite on my right side properly since elementary school.

I received one tray (I think it was upper 3 or 4) that had a crack in it when I took it out of the box. Now, I've cracked aligners (all but two of the ones I've had so far) but only on teeth that have attachments. This was a big crack and on a molar.

I called my dentist, and he said I had two options: stick it out as it was on a tooth that wasn't moving significantly, or delay my treatment and have Invisalign make a new aligner.

Given where the crack was, I opted to stick it out. If it had been on a tooth that was moving more, I would have had the new aligner made. I've learned the hard way by cracking aligners on specific teeth; if it happens within a couple of days of the new aligner, it's fine. If it happens earlier, the new aligner is agony on that tooth...because it hasn't moved the way it was meant to on the last aligner. Having gone through that, I'm completely honest with my dentist about the cracks when they happen...I'd rather wait for a new aligner than mangle a tooth unnecessarily.
