Finding a good doctor for invisalign

    Hi everyone,

I am considering getting Invisalign and this forum has been very helpful. There is a lot of good information here!

I live in New York City, and would like to find a good doctor for my procedure. I tried searching on Invisalign's website for doctors in my region and many come up. On Invisalign's website they categorize them as Premier Provider Elite, Premier Provider, and Invisalign Provider. From another website I found out that the status of Premier Provider Elite is given to fewer than 1% of Invisalign practitioners in North America, and recognizes their exceptional level of case experience and competence. In my region there are 8 doctors with this title. Does anyone know of a good source that I can use to find out a good doctor? Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Mike

You're best bet would be to set up consultations with a few of these doctors and talk to them. What's good for one person isn't going to be good for another. You might be able to get references from those particular orthodontists. You'll also get a feel for the atmosphere in the office, the bedside manner of the ortho, the office staff, etc; and those are all things you are going to have to be comfortable with, as you have develop a long relationship with these people.

As for a source; I used the recommendations on the Invisalign website, found a few that were convenient for me, and met with them.

I would also use the invisalign site.. however give this thread some time and maybe someone in the NYC area will chime in.. referrals from someone that has actually been there and done that are the best kind!

Thanks Brenda and Stephanie. I'll wait a bit and hopefully someone will recommend a doctor in NYC.

I agree that there's nothing that beats first-hand recommendations, since these are usually based on experience over an extended period of time. Your own impression on a consultation comes a close second in my book.
