coming to the end...retainer question

I meant to ask my ortho about what will happen when I'm finished with the aligners, but we started talking about something totally off topic and I forgot. I know in the beginning he said that he might put in a permanent retainer. Does anyone know what they're going to do once they are finished? I kinda like the idea of a permanent retainer. I'm not worried...just wondering if anyone has started to discuss those options with their ortho.

I don't know much about invisalign because I wear regular braces. But I do know that invisigalin offers a clear retainer. But honestly just call your orthodontist & ask. Thats what their there for!

My ortho is talking about a permanent retainer for the bottom. I guess it's just easier and half as much to clean!

I thought the same thing for having a permanent retainer. I don't mind having to wear a retainer at night, but it would be nice to have something permanent so that I don't have to think about it. I'll have to remember to ask at my next appt.

No retainer is permanent Even a bonded retainer will, in time, fail. So if you do get one, it's definitely something that you must monitor on a regular basis, to be sure it has not debonded.
