Talking attachments turn green

I have had my trays for less then a week. One thing I noticed is that while
Im eating my Attachments turn dark green. How embarrassing. I cant get to where I can brush my teeth fast enough. Thank god it comes off.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Fishgills and welcome to this forum.

I've no idea why your attachments have turned dark green. It's great that you can remove the colour with brushing.

We've had a client or two who've stained their attachments a yellow shade, due to eating with the aligners still in, which of course is a no no! This shading usually reduces with brushing and the client following the rules of only drinking clear fluids (water) with the aligners in. I'm not aware of them staining while eating with the aligners out, but I guess with some foods they might.

Good luck getting with your treatment.

This isn't the first chatter I've seen on the web about attachments staining. Yet it seems odd to me, as they are usually made from composite materials the same as, or very similar to, that used for "white" tooth fillings. (Almost every reference I've ever seen to the material used for the attachments speaks of composite.) I woner if some of the people who have trouble are actually seeing staining on excess flash at the base of the attachment.

staining

Every time I eat the whole attachment turn a dark green. After about 5 minutes it goes away unless I brush it off first.

its the cold

I learned something today. Its cold here in upstate N.Y.
and after comming in side I notices my attachments were dark green under
my trays. I didnt have to eat nor drink anything to cause this.
Just breath cold air through my mouth. Its not the food and drink that is causing this its the temperature of whatever goes in my mouth.
I like to ice fish, looks like a winter of dark green teeth.
Im calling my orthodontis Monday.

Interesting... it was in the lower 40's this morning, but I didn't pay attention to my teeth - I just hope they weren't green when I stopped at the corner store to pick up my milk.. LOL

I went to my Orthodontist today. He removed my attachments and put new ones on using a different glue. He said it was something about the glue he had used. He said
most patient get attahments more on the side teeth and probably didnt even notice that they were turning green in the cold. I have 4 on top in the very front and 2 on the bottom in the front. I couldnt help but notice. It only took him a minute to change them.
They are staying white now. HEY!!! Maybe I should of waited until after Halloween. It sure was scary.

It's great that you don't have to deal with attachments that turn green anymore. Well, now your invisalign is invisible again! lol, I could imagine, did you take a picture of your teeth with green attachments?

Great that your ortho changed the bonding material fishgills!

Bet you're relieved that you don't have to think about whether some of your teeth are looking green or not.

Enjoy!

I feel the same. It took me some time to take my before pictures for my blog because my teeth are so bad! But hopefully at the end of the treatment I can look back on them and realise that it was all worth it in the end
