Whitening gel using invisalign tray when have attachment space

Hi,

I wonder if someone can help me. I have a months course of whitening gel which I'd like to use whilst i'm using my invisalign trays but I have some attachments. I understand that if you whiten your teeth when you have the attachments on then you will be left with dull marks where the teeth haven't been whitened but my question is if i have my attachments off (4 in total) which I am due to have off soon can i use the whitening gel in my invisalign tray even if there are the spaces in the tray for where the attachments should go if you are wearing them?
I am concered that because of the space in the tray for the attachments that the gel won't be pressed up against those teeth because there will be too much of a gap and thus the teeth that should have attachments on (but don't) won't get whitened as much.

I'd be really grateful for anyone's thoughts....

My ortho made me bleach before I got my attachments, probably for this reason. You can read about it and see the results on my blog My Hollywood Smile: Bleaching with my Invisalign Aligners

What does your ortho have to say about it? I think that I would be concerned about the same thing, you wouldn't want it to be patchy.

Do you have any idea what retainers you will have or whether you will have refinements? It might be better to wait and see whether you then get aligners with no gaps.

I was very happy with the results I got, so it really can work.
