    Extra sticking Etching Gel, ok?

I got Invisiline and the buttons came off very easily because my teeth were so smooth so my DDS put on this Ethcing bonding gel so they wouldn't . So how hard is this to get the button off? He put this on a small rooted tooth that is being pulled too and w/o me knowing, (I have the extra on some molars too that are stronger teeth) I would have told him not to and kept w/the regular button stuff becaasue I'm scared about him twisting or putting to much force on a fragile tooth. That button stayed for a good few months till 'one day'..Then he reglobbed more on a that was thicker and later that day when I took the tray out - and the days that followed - it was really sore. Has anyone else had the gel put on there teeth and can it still be 'shaved off' or does it have to be ground all the way off?

    Thank you, Blip

    Hi blip,

I had had a similar question to this months ago. My dentist drilled a little into my teeth for the attachment to "get a hold onto" the tooth so it wouldnt come off. I do remember him putting something on the attachment as well, perhaps the gel stuff you are referring to. I know I had extra stuff that was on the rest of the teeth but soon wore away. I was concerned by the drilling and was told by the good people here not to worry about it. What the dentist/ortho will do when the time comes to have them removed is that they will grind it down to get it all off and buff out the tooth. As far as the tooth being sore, in my personal experience, it is just the tooth being shifted. Hope this helps.

    Gel on teeth

The Gel you are referring too is an acid etch that allows the brackets to be bonded onto the teeth. Some new bonding agents incorporate that gel into the bonding agent in a one step method. At the end of your treatment the attachment is easily removed to reveal your natural tooth. Visit Invisalign in Arlington va. to see more invisalign question and answers.
