    Impacted Wisdom teeth

So I had my impressions taken already and today I was told that I my lower wisdom teeth were impacted. My ortho said that it wasnt necessary to take them out. My aligners are going to arrive within a couple weeks. I was wondering if anyone else is in the same situation. I'm just worried that the impacted wisdom teeth was the reason for my crowding. Should I remove my wisdom teeth even though the ortho said it wasn't necessary and do you guys think new impressions will be necessary if I do? thank you.

    Hi there,

I had mine taken out before I started invisalign. It wasn't totally necessary but my dentist and I decided that given that my top (non impacted) wisdom teeth were so hard to clean and my bottom wisdom teeth had grown in horizontally, it was better to take them all out in case they cause problems further down the road.

I had to have teeth removed to begin invisalign, so we decided to remove the one impacted wisdom tooth that actually grew in my mouth. But my ortho had told me it shouldn't make a difference, at my age it most likely wouldn't move anymore. I just figured since I was already having the surgery, they might as well take that one out as well.

But I wouldn't have had it done just to remove that tooth.

    Hi there,
I have all of mine, some of which are impacted. Like you, my ortho said there was no need to remove them. I decided not to remove them as I had already had a substantial trauma when my dentist tried and failed to remove another, wonky tooth. They haven't caused any problems yet, if they do I may have to review it.

I had all 4 of mine removed. Apparently, I don't have a big mouth like I've always been told. The wisdom teeth were taking up space that we needed in order to pull the front ones around to correct the crowding.

    Hi,

My upper wisdom teeth came down fine as did my lower right wisdom tooth. For some reason my lower left wisdom tooth decided to come through at an angle! Its difficult to clean but has never hurt so it was never recommended to have it removed.

My aligners have basically just missed that tooth out so it looks like I have less teeth on one side :-) I am hoping a little bit of space might be made for it so it can shift up a bit.

Good luck with your treatment and make the most of snacking when you like now!
