Getting Permanent Retainer in 6 days WooHoo

I am so happy for it to be coming to an end. Originally started with 16u, 19l, refinements 4u, 7l. I am getting the top retainer next Thursday and the mold done for the lowers. My teeth look great - slightly imperfect. I am not interested in anymore refinements or traditional braces.

    Fantastic for you Brissiegirl!

Good luck with your retainers and remember this is a lifetime commitment ... as you want to keep the smile and bite you're so happy about now!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

Congrats Brissiegirl! That must be really exciting.

I only have my invisalign trays 2 weeks! Question: Do retainers have to be worn most of the day, or just at night?? I hope that's not a dumb question. lol

Usually they're worn at night. Initially some people wear them during the day too.

Do you have any before and after pictures to share?

Hi MissSwts, My retainer will be permanently behind my teeth. So, I will be wearing them all the time. My ortho prefers to do it this way and I am happy with it also. Goodluck, you will be so happy you made this decision. Rachel

Brissiegirl I hope you're still getting removable retainers to take care of the retention of the majority of your teeth, as only the front 4 or 6 on each arch will be held with the bonded retainers?

I'm not sure when it'll be happening ... but hopefully not too far in the distance ... I'll be getting bonded retainers and removable retainers. My ortho begins with a period of full time wear with the removable retainers, then it's too every night, then a couple of nights a week for life.

MissSwts talk to your ortho about what type of retainers will be best for you. Hopefully your ortho has already explained to you, that teeth continue to move for as long as we're alive, and that's why some form of retainer wear is required for life, if you want your teeth to remain where they will be when your treatment is finished.

    Good luck with your treatment!

That's great Brissiegirl. Do you have any pics, would love to see someone else's before and afters. Also wondered (because of your screen name) who was your ortho.
    Cheers
