    New and getting frustrated!!

    Hi,

I live in Yorkshire, UK and started the invislign process back in March and i am still waiting to have my first trays in! My dentist doesn't seem to give me any information and i have had to do much of my own research on the net. I have had my moulds done and i have waited another 9 weeks for my first trays just to be told today that they has been another delay! I wondered if anyone could give me an idea of how long it took them from initial consultation to getting your first aligner as it has been nearly 5 months! I have a lot of movement required and i fear its going to take a while however that doesn't worry me. What does bother me is that I have not been told about teeth filing, pain or attachments which i have discovered from reading forums. I have not seen any image of what i should expect ie clincheck? As you can probably tell i'm a little frustrated and i little in the dark about what to expect. To top it of i'm paying 3 and a half thousand!! HELP!

    Thank you!
    Kim

    Hi Kim,

I had my impressions done on May 30th, clincheck on June 18th and the aligners arrived on june 27. 5 months is way too long. You should express your concerns with your ortho. I'm on my first tray and you shouldn't worry about attachments and IPR. The process was painless for me. I hope you get your aligners soon!

If I recall correctly, I think people have mentioned that it takes longer to get the trays in the UK than it does in the states.

The basic delivery is, I believe, 6 to 8 weeks.

Speak to your ortho again, express your concerns, and hopefully he'll be able to give you a better answer.

Hi Kim26, I am also in the UK and didnt have to wait that long for my trays

I had my initial consultation and impressions done in December, clin check came back about the 2nd week of January and I had my first trays fitted on 17th Feb.

I'd recommend you speak to your dentist/ortho about seeing your clincheck though and to talk through your concerns like Punkin says, even if just to keep you motivated during the wait. You are paying a lot of money and although its Invisalign providing the trays, you should still receive a certai level of service from your Ortho. Good luck with your treatment anyways

It does seem strange you're having to wait so long. For the cost (which is the same as what I paid) you should be receiving much better service. My ortho was in constant dialog with me over the process informing me of everything and answering all questions. And the trays arrived quickly too - you should call them to see just what is holding them up.

    Good luck.

    hi,
I waited about 8 wks from first consulation to having tray fitted, it would have been quicker but i had to have a fraenectomy during that time so i was a bit reluctant to have the tray in too soon after that.

    Hey
Think I also waited around 8 to 9 weeks from impressions to receiving first aligner. Best of luck with your treatment!

Kim - sorry I didn't read your initially post carefully. You may want to take a look at the blog section as you will find that a lot of people had some the same issues you are having now. Everyone deals with it a bit differently.

As for me, i got my attachments after tray 2 and a bit filing done then as well as a few weeks later. That was a pretty tough appointment but it's been pretty smooth sailing since. Some pictures in my blog link below if you're interested.

    Best of luck to you.

Thanks. Thats the thing, still not getting a great service. I went today i was in for all of 2 mins, i was showed my clincheck ask if it was ok and then went. I had to count the attachments that were on the clincheck (6 iln all) and i wasn't told anything else! RUBBISH! I am thinking of writing to invislign after all this is finally over!! xx

A dialog works both ways. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Make a list before going in if you're prone to forgetting them (like I am). If your ortho isn't willing to answer the questions, then there is a problem, but if they just aren't forthcoming with the information YOU want to know, YOU need to ask.

    Hi Kim,

I live in NZ and it took about 8 weeks form my 1st appt to get my trays - I don't think you should write to Invisalign about your concerns...you should really talk to your dentist. Often the clincheck is changed many times which is a lengthy process.

    Please keep up posted!
