How long does the tight feeling last for you?

    Hi
I'm on my 3rd set of aligners and can't wait to get the next ones. My experience so far is that they feel snug for the first week and then they start to feel a bit loose, not so comfy and I feel a bit lispy. When they put the first tray in I never thought I'd look forward to that tight feeling again.
Does everyone else experience pretty much the same? I wear mine for a fortnight each, thought my dentist said some people can get away with 10 days, it would certailny cut down on the treatment time but wouldn't like to have damaged roots as a result.

Depends on the set. The attachments tend to keep them pretty snug, although I have had sets that have felt loose from day 2.

I've also found that as I've progressed through the treatment, the new trays don't feel as tight as they used to when I'd first put them on.

Hi Sadsmile, Im finishing my first set today and I also found that my tray started to feel lose after 10 days, especially the top one. I have 2 attachments on my lower teeth only, Im due to get 7 more in 6 weeks (top & bottom), so I guess that will help keep them tighter. I find that when I use the chewies that it helps tighten them up, although after about half an hour they losen up again. Do you have/or getting attachments?

I have found some trays are tighter for longer and have ranged between 2 days to 1 week before they start to feel looser and less painful when taking them out.

Guess it depends on the type and amount of movement happening with each tray..

Im sure the number of attachments affects this too, I have 11.

Ahh theres nothing like the first few days on a new tray. I'm on my 2nd day of my 5th tray and they are starting to go loose.

For me, the tightness lasts 2 days. After that, I almost forget they're in my mouth.
Experience is not something you can buy, but it is something you will pay dearly for.

hi, i am on my 3rd tray and had attachments with this one, but only tray one felt tight for any length of time, (5/6 days) and after that i dont know i am wearing them at all. i wondered if its was because my teeth were moving quickly but myself or family can see no difference at all,.

Hi kal4col, many of the people who post on these forums find that the visual changes come about half way through their treatment (although this can depend on where the majority of the movement is happening), so hang in there!

For example, I have bad crowding and the first 9 trays or so were spent moving my molars to make room at the front. There were really minor changes before this but ones only I could notice. Now Im getting lots of people say they spot the difference which is nice and rewarding!

    Hi there,
Mine vary, they are tight for between 1 and 2 days I suppose although some have been less, some more. It certainly seems that as you go through treatment your teeth get quicker and quicker to move.
