    Can you floss too much?

I used to only floss once a day before Invisalign, but now I feel like I HAVE to floss after eating anything. I just don't want anything stuck next to my teeth for hours underneath the trays.

Today I've already flossed twice, and i'll probably floss another 2-3 times before I go to sleep.

    Is this bad for gums?

As long as you are flossing gently then your gums should be fine. I floss after every meal and I've never had any pain or bleeding from my gums

I love flossing! I flossed about 2 mins ago actually haha. I do it so often that I actually can't stand not doing it soon after eating.

I just googled it and it came up with this....LOL

"When you start flossing instead of eating, doing your job, while you're holding the steering wheel of your semi trailer, it could become a problem.

Flossing addiction has lead to many a marriage breakup and can even in severe cases lead to death (usually from starvation). A 30 year old woman was found dead with her cats in an apartment with a peice of floss in between her teeth and fingers. It is suspected that it was a flossing addiction that lead to this fatefull end.

I suggest joining flossaholics anonymous they have a great support network. Just remember, the first stage to recovery is recognizing you have a problem and that it can be fixed."

350 it's only necessary to floss below the gum line once a day ... and that's the most important area to clean to prevent gum disease, but also the most important area to be careful with, so as not to damage the delicate gum tissue.

If you feel you can't clean between your teeth well with anything other than floss, then do it as often as you need, but please don't go to the gum level, unless you really need to ... then do it carefully.

    Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

I floss several times a day and haven't seemed to do any damage as yet. I wouldn't have thought that there would be a problem though or I think orthodontists would probably warn you. I actually find that my gums never bleed these days, although they used to.

I think I should be okay, as long as I'm gentle. Sometimes brushing just doesn't get all the little food bits out.

I floss after every time I eat. It amazes me how much stuff comes out between the teeth even after a thorough brushing, so I am sure to do it each time. I get sick of the thought of that gook in there. Funny tho, now I am addicted (no you wont find me dead of starvation, lol) to flossing and before invisaline I would only floss when I thought about it and grossly that was maybe once a month if that.
