Got my first trays (YAY!!) and something odd...

I got my first six trays for upper and lower. They are Invisalign Teen and have the bumps on each tooth (even though they arent being used).

Also - I wear each set for only one week each before my next visit in six weeks. That seems a little odd compared to most people - maybe it is my screwed up jaw/mouth/teeth.

Also the containing bags indicate I have the first six trays of 60.

In 18-24 months I am hoping for a perfect smile. I am also getting bonding to make sure I never have to do this again.

I wore my first set of aligners for 3 weeks, after which I returned to get attachments placed on the teeth. I then wore the 1st tray another 3 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Currently I have 5 attachments, although there are 11 spaces for attachments.

Sxgt great your treatment has started and I hope it's going well.

The amount of time needed for each tray can vary, depending on how your plan has been setup. Some ortho's use more trays that do less, and need to therefore need to be worn less and others use less trays that do more, and need to be worn for longer periods of time. The most important thing for you, is to follow your ortho's instruction.

    Good luck!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

    Hello and welcome
I am envious you receive a new tray every week! Usually after the first week they get yunky and are harder to keep clean through the 2nd week. 60 weeks is 14 months, not a bad gig either.

I had my trays weekly too for a lot of the time, i' using my final trays as retainers now and believe it or not they're still sparkly and really fresh and I dont do anything fancy to clean them, denture cleaner and normal toothpaste and a small head denture brush does the trick. I'm very careful not to let them near the dreaded "bru".

my dentist told me no denture cleaner and for what I paid for the Invisaline I didn't want to do anything that may have done anything to the aligners. I guess I'm just too straight laced. I did however receive with my retainers the product Invisaline makes and I love it. i try to use them sparingly as I only received 6 packets.
I am now in refinements, another 2 to go and then retainers again, I will try the denture cleaner for my next two sets.

    Hi Mommamorin,
Do you know why he/she said no denture cleaner. I ask only because it says that in the booklet too. I have used it constantly through my treatment and it seems fine, so I wondered about the reason. One problem I do have is that they look slightly pink afterwards, but a quick scrub with the toothbrush gets rid of that.

My Hollywood, I found the pink tablets left a residue that needed brushing off after too. I switched to the Steradent in the white tube (express 3 minute cleaning or something!). The tablets are blue but the trays only need a rinse under water after and theyre clear.

I have used denture cleaner every other day and simply brushed them under water each time I removed them.

I was told "they're made for denture material, not plastic". Then I had myself a chuckle when I read that Invisaline makes their own product. Probably no difference, but I didn't want to take the chance.

My ortho stocks it - only a fiver for 30 days worth. I only soak them every few days

Thank you for this info, Sunny!

I just started my first tray of Invisalign one week ago. I have 20 upper and 6 lower. My orthodontist is having me change trays every 5 wks and see him at that time to get the tray and have him check my mouth. I asked him today "why 5 wks and not 2-3 as I have read?" He said because I have so many crowns in my mouth (13, which includes a 3 tooth bridge) that it will take longer per tray, plus something about being concerned about possible bone/perio issues. 5 wks per tray certainly lengthens the overall time that I have to have to use the Invisalign trays.

I found out only after I started treatment that this orthodontist has only had 4-5 other invisalign patients. He comes very highly recommended as an orthodontist, but I didn't think or know to ask how much experience he has had with Invisalign.

Yours is the only posting (on the internet in general) that I have found that says something other than 2-3 wks. per tray. It would seem to confirm what my ortho has planned isn't out of the ordinary. (I hope.)

    Thanks again for your posts.
