    Upper retainer, woohoo!

Finally going in today to get a (vacuum?) upper retainer to replace my last upper tray. Which I first started wearing on March 10. What's today? Oh, November 12? Yeah, it's eight months old. I don't recommend wearing one tray for eight months, it's gross. Even the most diligent cleaning has not prevented it from yellowing with age.

Added bonus, the ortho said he would be able to move one of the upper fronts a little more forward, as I feel like they are just the faintest bit misaligned. Good news all around. I moved into 5refinement (of 9) for my lowers today, the end is so close!

Sounds like it's all great news for you Radaly!

Good luck with that small amount of upper movement and the finishing of your lowers!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!

    Wow well done Radaly!

I'm interested to know how they will move the tooth a little more forward as I might find myself in the same position if my final aligner doesn't do the job?

havingitdoenintheuk, the ortho made a retainer and just did some magic. Not entirely sure. It's a clear retainer, much like the trays, but definitely thicker plastic. I imagine they adjust the plastic before it has hardened entirely. (Just a guess) I can feel the tooth has moved just since yesterday.

    Hi Radaly,
just keep a good eye on your movement with the retainer. Did invisaline make it? I got my vivera retainers from invisaline and they were not made correctly, making my teeth shift way off. Unfortunately I was on vacation for two weeks and by the time I got home, the damage was already done. Not knowing how the retainer was supposed to feel I only thought, wow these are tight! I am now in refinements and not having much success with them. The wrong incisor is moving. :-/ I am just going to take a big girl pill and live with the final result. I have one tray left in refinements then back to retainers I go.

Wow mommamorin, when you said the retainers caused the problem I had no idea it did it in only 2 weeks- what a nightmare. I hope Invisalign are compensating you in some way!

Yes two weeks. Even the dentist couldnt believe the movement or his invisaline rep. Align Tech has allowed me (how gracious) to go into refinements and they are giving me my new retainers at no charge. Again how gracious, I had paid for them already. I am lucky if I don't get root damage for having such fast movement, Idk how long that would take to become noticed. The teeth that are moving now in my refinements are making my smile way different, instead of straight across with the lips, my top lip is straight across and the bottom is a half moon. Picture the joker in Batman movies. I look like I am all front teeth. Enough complaining, all and all it is still way better than I had, and I do not want to turn anyone off to Invisaline. As Dr. Tam has repeatedly said, it is the dentist/ortho that does all the technical stuff in movement, not Invisaline. Where the culprits lay, I do not know for certain.

    mommamorin,
No, the retainer was made by my ortho; it's not Vivera. My lowers are still in refinement, but I desperately needed a new tray for the uppers!

Relax - I just think it's strange that you don't now how to spell the name of the product that you have been using for how long and posting on forums which state the name hundreds of times!

Well two trays back I was feeling anxious that 2 stubborn teeth were not going to move how I wanted them but I am glad to say they are now just about there.
I would say I am 95% happy so will not have any more refinements! Can't wait to wave goodbye to the attachments and get some rough edges filed down at my next visit then it will be retainer time.
It has gone really quickly but I'm very pleased the end is near, look forward to a less 'robotic' lifestyle in a few months once I am down to nightime wear only!
I'll get pics taken next month then will post them on here
