Can you go backwards in trays?

As some of you oldbies know I have had quite the plight with my Invisalign treatment. I loved my end result but I had to go into refinements after my retainers and I am not having much success with them. In just 3 out of 4 trays, my teeth have made a transformation that I am totally not happy with. My teeth are 'bucking" to make room for incisor rotation and one front tooth is further out from the gum line so my lip line is lopsided. My question is... can you go backwards in trays? ie, tray 3 to 2 to 1 and possibly make retainers from the template that was made in the beginning which would be where I was at at the retainer stage? Unfortunately I cannot go back to my old retainers as I have had fillings done and they would no longer fit. Frankly, I am scared to death to do refinements again not knowing if I'd be better off with what I had and being my last chance I'd be stuck with that final result.
I urge everyone, when you get to the retainer stage, if there is too much pressure on some teeth and less on others, they will move!

What a shame about the fillings as I suppose the ideal would be to go back to your last trays. How many fillings did you have? Is there any way your dentist could shape the fillings to fit your last set of your original run of trays? It seems that that would be the best solution if it were possible as that would be guaranteed to give the best result.
Honestly, Mommamorin I think you have the patience of a saint. If this were me in this position I would be fuming. I really wish you good luck with finding the best solution. What does your ortho say?
As for wearing them backwards, I think you can. I can't see any reason why not unless you have had significant IPR which might make them look a little strange!

Theoretically, it may be ok to step back in your trays. However, it isn't simple enough as reversing the movement by going in opposite sequence. Certain movements need to happen in a specific order to be more predictable. For instance, if a tooth was intruded during treatment, wearing aligners in reverse doesn't mean it will become extruded.

Also, with Vivera retainers, once you have ordered them, I seem to recall that it is the end of treatment and no more refinements are available, regardless of if you had any left previously.

Speak to your doctor so that you can figure out the best solution for your particular situation. Good luck!

    Thanks Dr. Tam
Align Tech took responsiblity, as it was their error in the making of my retainers incorrectly, and honored the original contract of 2 refinements and no charge for the vivera retainers for one year (I had already paid for them). I am lucky in that respect.
I am saddened though to hear it is not as easy as going back a few trays. :-/
It will be a very hard call as to what my next move will be.
Hollywood, I had two old mercury fillings replaced. Guess its all moot now.

I'm sorry to hear things haven't quite gone according to plan towards the ends of your treatment mommamorin. Thanks for sharing though, I'll definitely have to keep it in mind when I finally get to retainers. Hope the rest of it goes smoothly for you and glad Align Tech came through for you.
