Question Anyone get a second set of refinements?

I'm about 9 months into my Invisalign journey (originally scheduled to be 6 months). I'm about a week away from finishing my first set of refinements. The top teeth are fine, but the bottom aren't (one tooth is about 1 mm out of position).

Has anyone gotten a second set of refinements after the first set? I don't mean 2 trays of refinements in your first set -- I mean you finished the first refinement process completely and things still aren't done?

It's unclear to me what Invisalign actually covers. Some places I'm reading 1 refinement set, some places I'm reading 3. My doctor assured me we'll "get it right", but I don't know if that means Invisalign will get it right or I'm paying for it.

With regular Invisalign or Invisalign Teen in North America, 3 refinements are included in the cost to the doctor. However, each office will vary with what they cover for each patient, so you'll have to find out what is covered with your particular contract.

Some patients don't need any refinements while others have 3. Don't look at it as a failure of the previous sets, but rather as a continuum of the total treatment plan.

    Hope that helps!

I've had 2 refinements. On my 2nd set of refinements, my ortho added an attachment (I had 0 attachments prior) and it worked like a charm!

I did not have to come out of pocket for any added expenses. During my consultation visit my ortho stated that it was a set price and that there is always a small possibility that people need to wear traditional braces in the end to complete the process, but that it would be of no added cost to me. Also included was the retainer and visits over a 3-year retention period. Of course my invisaligns were very expensive, but worth it! I only needed my bottom teeth corrected, and my ortho charged $5000 with my dental insurance paying $2000. I'm in Tucson , Arizona.
