hey, before starting invisalign i need to create space because of too much crowding. My ortho said I need to get my first premolars removed but it can cause complications along the way that are unpredictable.

Has anyone had their first premolars removed before invisalign? If so could you please tell me about your experience, progress, and complications.

Also, If anyone has a picture of how the extractions look with the invisalign could you please post?

Premolar extraction cases are amongst the most difficult treatments to provide with Invisalign. Though it can be done, there are few orthodontists out there who have completed successful premolar extraction treatment with aligners. You'll need a lot of attachments, excellent cooperation, and great planning by your provider. I would be sure to seek an extremely experienced provider before embarking on this journey with Invisalign. Best of luck!

Have you yourself ever dealt with a case like this?
My dentist told me to get second opinions, for he's never done it before, just to see if i want to go through with it and take the risk.

i got my two canine teeth removed over a month ago and im getting my invisalign tommorw. when i got them removed my left tooth was stuck and it took the dentist almost an hour to get it out but my right tooth took less then 10 min. to get out. with my left tooth i still have problems with it. my gum on tht tooth is still swollen and i have a huge knot there now. i still have trouble eating some food but everything else is good besides tht one tooth.....i hope you have a speedy recovery and arent in a lot of pain!!!

i had 4 premolars removed, and a week later i started tray one. i have 3 attachments on each of the quadrant. i am on day 3 of my 1st tray and am suffering tremendously during the snap on/ take off 'coz they are just so stuck. i just posted another thread in hopes for some advice.

With extractions i think you should give it at least 2 weeks to heal before you start tray 1. , this is because you need to use a syringe to clean the sockets and if it's pain to remove/snap on the aligners then you can't clean the sockets well. (I wished i would've waited longer 'coz now i have pain/soreness from the extraction as well as from the aligners)

i am concerned with Dr. Tam's comment on the lower success rates with using invisalign to close up gaps of permolars!! if i go thru this much pain and it won't work, i am gonna die !
