Jaw and Facial Pain with Invisalign

I have had invisalign retainers for 2 years after my regular retainers broke after 11 years. Up until a month ago everything was fine but now every time i wear my retainers at night the next morning i wake up with tightness in my jaw and facial muscles, and sometimes it goes all the way down my back. It goes away after a few nights of not wearing them. Has anyone else experienced this?

Maybe you have started clenching your teeth when you sleep? Or clenching differently than you have before? When I clench too much (which usually happens when I am overtired or stressed), my jaw feels heavy and sometimes my neck is affected - probably because, in general, I tend to carry my tension in my shoulders, neck, and face.

    Hope this helps!
