    Red face Hello!

Hi, I am new to the forum! I got Invisalign on Friday. I wanted to join a community where I could ask questions and share my story!

I had braces before, when I was about 13, but I didn't wear my retainer- and they went back THAT SUCKS.

Now, I am 20 and A LOT more responsible.. and since I have to pay for it this time... I take it very seriously.

I have a pretty straight upper set. (My two front stick out a tad, and the two outside of the front sit inwards a bit)... I need 9 aligners.
However, my bottoms are quite crooked. (I have two crowns, both on the front teeth, and a very crooked tooth that sits way back)... I need 12 aligners.

My dentist gave me my first set around noon on Friday- and by 3 o'clock I was in excruciating pain. I took Ibuprofen throughout the day and night and by yesterday they were a tad better. Today is definitely improvement. I am not looking forward to the pain at the start of each aligner.. but it's worth it.

I'll attach some beginner pictures, again HELLO

    Welcome, TeeWee!

Sounds like you don't have too long of a road to travel; 12 and 9 is not so bad at all! I am on tray 5 of 7L/12U, and I am surprised how fast time is flying.

To reduce (or at least not notice it too much) the pain when you start a new set of aligners, put them at night before going to bed. That way not only do they have a good number of hours to settle into the new position, but you also will sleep through the discomfort!

By the way, the first aligner was the worst for me (although set three socked it to me for about an hour!), and I have been surprised at how little discomfort - after an hour or so - that there is with each new set of trays.

I am a re-treatment case, too. Here's to properly wearing retainers forever!

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Good Luck with the invisalign. I agree that the first tray was the worst, but as you get used to them evening changing won't feel so bad. The only problems I've had is with my 5th set where it was really badly rubbing my tongue, but very little pain associated with my teeth! Your time will fly by I've got 24 and 29 aligners so I still feel like I've got ages to go :-s
    Good Luck!
