Invisalign with wisdom teeth

I have a consultation booked for 3 weeks time for x-rays, molds etc to have invisalign. However I've just discovered my 3rd wisdom tooth is starting to come through. Should I cancel my appointment? Do I need to wait until my wisdom tooth has come through? Can you have invisalign with wisdom teeth or do you have to have them removed?

im not very sure about invisalign because i have traditional braces, but i can only give you my thoughts and maybe somebody around can give you a better answer.

I think that having your wisdom tooth just coming out isn't a problem. I think invisalign only starts with your molars (just like with traditional braces) so wisdom teeth wont be exactly part of the treatment.
I personally am just having my wisdom tooth coming out (which is wierd, i could've swore they came out some time ago) and i, like you, worried about what to do since my appointment was coming up. when the appointment came i was told nt to worry, because the last bracket will be on the molars. so there's no difference if they were there or coming out.
So go to the appoitnment and ask for yourself, but i bet there would be no changes in plans!

When I started invisalign in Sept 08 I had no signs of any wisdom teeth poking through - but today my top left is almost fully out and my top right is half way out - it was either a coincidence that they came through during this time or due to the fact that my arch has been made wider by invisalign that this has happened. But I can tell you that they have not affected my treatment in the slightest.

My ortho has indicated that it is nothing to worry about as they are all pointing in the right direction (not impacted). Talk to your ortho about your concerns, but am sure they will be able to tell by your xray if anything needs to be done before hand to get your teeth ready.

Requirement for wisdom teeth removal or any other teeth before Invisalign is going to be dependent on the situation. There are times we need space to move teeth back into the extraction space. Speak to your dentist to discuss your particular case. Good luck!

Rosee, I think I have the same thing. One of my wisdom teeth is poking through the gum now and wasn't before. Not sure why else that would happen at my advanced age of ....mid/late thirties..
