Talking How Long to wear each tray?

I just got invisalign about 3 weeks ago, and I noticed that my teeth seemed to adjust to the first tray really quick and was loose about 5days later, I went ahead and waited the two weeks advised but now I'm on the second tray and its already loose and feeling like I'm adjusted to it already. Is this normal? Is it possible my teeth are just adjusting faster?

Thanks for any feedback excited to be a part of the forum

I'd stick to the recommended time even though it feels loose.. your teeth can only move so fast to remain healthy and you don't want to stress your teeth, gums or bone by trying to make them move too fast.

    Good luck.

    :)

mine get like that after 5-6 days, too!

but it's important to let your teeth set into their places before damaging the root again. and, plus, it feels a lot better to take them out and in versus the first few days of a new tray! bahaha

Great advice; also you may notice after some time that there are tiny shifts that take place later in the course of a tray. Cutting the tray time short leaves you vulnerable to "missing" those important moves and throwing treatment off-track.

TeeWee is right! Enjoy those days when it is so much easier to put the trays in and take them out. Those are the days I enjoy my meals far more...

While there is some variation from the two weeks per aligner, this should be determined by your treating doctor. The time may vary depending on individual physiology, length of roots, density of bone, age, daily hours of aligner wear, and amount of movement desired per aligner.

As noted above, just because aligners don't feel tight doesn't mean teeth aren't moving. A similar analogy would be for those wearing braces. Even when teeth don't hurt and braces don't feel tight, the teeth are indeed moving!

I think we just like to feel progress. If there is no soreness or any pain I just feel like I'm waiting for the next tray...I can understand where the o/p is coming from.

However, posts like yours help keep me motivated and reassured.

I definitely understand. I hear this daily from patients who are the same ones who enjoy being sore the next day after the gym because they feel like they did something .

The teeth do move, and it is usually the initial mobilization of the teeth that causes discomfort. It is important to allow some time for bone reorganization as well.
