Just saw ortho, he suggested a cheaper alternative to invisalign, opinions?

I just visited the top ranked invisalign ortho in my area per the invisalign website search. says he is premium elite or whatever. The teeth on either side of my 2 front teeth don't line up exactly with my front teeth and stick out slightly. So I went for a consultation today, and the doctor basically thought I was crazy and said my case was very minor. He told me invisalign would be 4,000 dollars, so that was out of the question, and he didnt even think I needed it.

He suggested something else though, he said it was very similar to invisalign. He said they take an impression of my teeth, and send it somewhere, aesthetics or something like that ? then they come back with an invisalign-like clear mouthpiece that I would wear for a month. He thinks my problem can be corrected in either 1 or 2 of these mouthpieces. He said they basically work the same way as invisalign, he said I would wear it for 2 weeks, then come in and he may tighten it up and then wear it for another 2 weeks. Then if i need another to get my results I want, we can do that. He thought I would need 2 of these tops to get the results. They are 250 dollars each, and it seems like a great alternative to the whole invisalign treatment. Then he said I would get a retainer to wear at night after the 1 or 2 mouthpieces

My question is has anyone ever heard of this being done ?

This is a similar principle to Invisalign known as reset aligners. A model is made of your teeth, and then a tech moves physically cuts the teeth with a fine saw on the model and moves them to a more ideal position. An aligner is made from this, and then the teeth are moved again to a better position and the steps are repeated.

Your treatment is determined by a technician, only minor problems can be corrected, and there is less accuracy in this type of system. It is similar to a red white and blue (3 aligners) or simpli5 (5 aligners) and virtually every other aligner system that does not give the doctor digital control of tooth movement.

ok, my doctor said he thinks I may only need 1 to achieve the results I want, possibly 2 at the most. Do they fit in on your teeth exactly like Invisalign? are they just as un-noticable as Invisalign ? He said my problem was so minor that this method should do the trick. And he also mentioned how someone cuts it like you said, so I am pretty sure we are talking about the same thing here.

    Thanks for your help

These will not fit or look exactly the same as Invisalign, but will be comparable. One or two aligners is very, very minor movement. If the movement is so minor, my personal judgement is that you are looking for relative perfection. A lab cut model is not as accurate as that done by a computer from a digital footprint. Keep this in mind, not just cost, as you decide on your treatment options. Best of luck.

    Question A question

Hello "The Zohan". If you're from Toronto, Canada, could you tell me which orthodontist was it, as it's hard to find one which is good and which works with these kinds of braces that are cheaper, but effective. Hopefully, you'll read this. Thanks.
