Today I went in and got 6 new attachments on my teeth (3 in the front, 3 in the back). I have to attach 3 elastic bands to these. Let me tell you...it hurts! Everytime I change trays I take tylenol and got to bed. That hurts too...but this like twice as bad and there's no getting away with it!
When I take them and the tray off to eat it's super uncomfortable. My bottom teeth hit the back attachments and make me feel like I'm going to crack my front tooth off. I've been sticking to foods I don't have to chew much.
I have to have these attachments due to three of my teeth being slightly shorter than the others. Not something I'm totally concerned about. However, my orthodontist believes that if we leave them alone they'll only push up more.
I go back next week to have these checked and move on to tray number 8 of 12.
My question is...has anyone else had experience with these bands? I'm nervous on how long I have to wear these larger attachments. I already have the buttons. I've gotten used to them but they are much smaller than these new attachments. When I asked how long he thought we would have to use them he just said we'll see next week. Not a very good answer for an adult with braces that's already self conscious about them! I have to be in a wedding in 2 weeks. I know tons of pictures will be taken. I look like I have a piece of something stuck on my left front tooth/gum.
Do I regret my Invisalign choice? I'm not sure. I do feel that with as many attachments as they continue to incorporate they aren't really invisible or anywhere near. Traditional braces would be more noticeable. However people would know you were using braces and not questioning what's going on with your mouth.
Fingers crossed only 9 weeks left!
