Why? Who's got the skill and who's paying them?
I am trying to understand the dynamics of the orthodontic devices market. I would appreciate feedback.
Suppose some startup firm develops an alternate system to align for making invisible braces. Let’s further suppose this process does not infringe any patents and let us assume lowers the price of a full treatment to $250-350 range and lowers the price of short treatment 10-12 aligners to about $80-120 range.
Who do you think would be most interested in acquiring this process? Would it be Align (since it would allow them to be competitive with metal braces)? Would it be 3M Unitek or Kodak Dental or Sybron or ClearCorrect or Cadent or someone outside the orthodontic industry? Would it be VC?
What would be the best way to negotiate such an agreement?
Why? Who's got the skill and who's paying them?
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
