I have one tooth that closed in too far after my initial treatment. Now I am going through refinement and I was told this tooth would eventually come back out slowly. There is an attachment on the outside of the tooth so I am kind of confused how the tooth can get pushed out when the attachment is pushing on the tray in the opposite direction?
thanks, Brian

Attachments can be used for a variety of reasons and without knowledge of the type of the attachment, it isn't possible to determine the intended direction of movement. There are so many surfaces on it, that it may be used to intrude, extrude, rotate right, rotate left, etc. Only your experienced doctor will be able to describe the exact reason for the placement of the attachment on this tooth.

I just don't see how it's possible for an attachment placed on the outside of the tooth to make an outward movement.
