    Question Replacing Attachments

Is it normal to have attachments replaced using the template after moving on several trays into the treatment using? I am on tray 5 and lost an attachment and when I went in to get it replaced they used the tray 0 template saying they can't use a normal tray to do the attachments because it will stick to the tray and the tooth.

This just doesn't sound right because it seams to me that the attachment would be in the wrong place on the tooth after the tooth has moved for 5 trays.

If you are mid-treatment, the best thing to do is to use the most recent aligner as a template. Still this might not be 100% accurate, as the tooth that had the attachment might not have moved adequately during that last stage, as there was no attachment to help it along. However, generally, it isn't an issue. You should not transfer to the next tray until an attachment that is required has been replaced.

Some doctors section the template to fit over only a single tooth when replacing attachments, but we have found that this section can fit on the teeth in more than one spot, and is not that accurate.

Speak to your doctor if you have any concerns.

I had an attachment come off recently and went in to see the ortho about having it replaced. After looking at my clincheck and treatment program he said that it wasnt needed as the rotation/movement on that particular tooth occured already and the attachment wouldnt provide a sizeable benefit for the remainder of treatment.

My ortho used my current tray as a guide to replace an attachment. She would have used the previous tray but I didn't take that one to the appointment with me.
    U31 & L23 finished.
    Refinements U9 & L9 of 13 or 16?!
