    getting anxious

    hey everyone
i'm new here, but i've been reading these boards for a while
my name is danielle, i'm 32 and from nj
i don't have my trays yet, but hopefully should be getting them soon
(yikes! didn't realize how verbose i can be! i apologize for the length!)

first off, my teeth are so crowded, and misaligned, and some are pushed back and some are turned and, well, my mouth is a mess...but my teeth were never anything i was self concious about....they made me unique...well, that's what i told myself, but they really don't bother me
my sister had traditional braces when she was a teenager, and she too had over crowding, but needed 4 adult teeth pulled....and i had gone to the ortho for a consultation and they told me i'd need adult teeth pulled...and i wanted nothing of that, so i never revisited the thought
actually, i hardly ever went to the dentist
fast foward to about 5 years ago, and i had a pain in my tooth, so i went to a dentist (first time in like, 15 years) and all was well, so i kept going back every 6 months...then they changed dentists on me, and the new guy asked me about invisalign....and seeing as i was getting married soon, i decided to listen to him...but, unfortunately, it wouldn't make a difference before the wedding, so i forgot about it...this was 2 years ago...and then at my last check up in may, my denstist (i have a new one now) mentioned it to me, and she said that to take the molds and send in the information was free, so i said sure why not...she thought that maybe invisalign would work without having teeth pulled..awesome
so she sent it off, and it came back saying that i would need teeth pulled, so i said thanks but no thanks, and then a few weeks later, the dentists office called, saying that they resubmitted my case, and now it can be done
i guess, she was still new at the process, so she wasn't certified yet to do cases with buttons and ipr
so, that was the end of june...she showed me my clincheck, and it's crazy that it could possibly work...
i sat on it for a week or so, and then i called and said it's a go
so, now i'm waiting for the call that the trays are in...so i'm getting very anxious to start this thing already...
they say i should have about 22 trays on top, and 24 on the bottom? i know they're not the same number, but around 20 something, and the estimated time is 11- 16 months
    so, i'm excited
and here is my clincheck so you can see my snaggle teeth

I pick up my trays on Thursday both anxious and excited. 35 trays altogether bout 16-17months.
Take a look at my clincheck on The Invisible Diary similar-ish situation I think. Hopefully mine will all come to a finish around my 21st birthday next november!! what a fab present to myself haha

Hope everything goes well for you!!

thanks! i actually just got my trays last night...turns out i have 20 upper and 22 lower
i have 10 attachments in all (7 on top, 3 on the bottom) and they did the ipr between 2 teeth on top last night..
all of that went well...had no issues with the buttons being put on, or the ipr
it's a pain to take off the top tray though, it keeps getting caught on the button on the front tooth and the one next to it, but, seeing as i haven't even had them 24 hours yet, i'm sure i'll get used to taking them on and off
i'll check out your blog! i'm debating on whether or not i want to start one....
    good luck!

    :)

Sounds like an interesting day 1. I'm sure you must get more used to it the longer time goes on probably be more normal to have trays in by the end rather than naked teeth lol.

I'm just using my blog as a diary really for myself so I can look back after to see where I started may not keep up with it every 2 weeks though.

Glad you mentioned you had attachments and ipr before first tray I have emailed my ortho checking really hope I get my attachments so that I get used to having them from the beginning. I will only moan after having it easy otherwise.

    thanks

Congrats on starting your treatment dmoney 79! It'll get easier to get the trays on and off, don't worry... I'm on try 6 but haven't had IPR yet, think I'll be getting it in a couple of weeks. Can you see big difference fter the IPR..? I'm getting married next month and a bit worried I'll have massive gaps from th eIPR in my wedding photos!

    Thanks

the ipr isn't noticable at all...it was one on the side...the only difference i can tell is i can get floss in between those 2 teeth easier....my dentist had told me it would be no more than the thickness of a fingernail, but that could just be how much she had to take away for me (it was .5)

i had a little easier time taking off the top tray for lunch, but now the bottom was giving me a hard time....and now all of a sudden there's a bit of the plastic rubbing my lip on my top tray...and the inside of the bottom on one side is making my tongue raw...i tried to file that part down, but i guess i didn't enough...when i take them out later for dinner i'll try more filing

good luck with your ipr, and congrats on getting married!

Phew, thanks dmoney79! You've calmed my nerves a bit I'm getting the attachments removed before the wedding as well (then put back after) so that'll be nice!

I found the first few trays taught me where the pesky bits were that rubbed my mouth - try and remember where they are and you'll be able to file the next set in the right place before you start wearing them. I managed to get all the sharp parts on my last two trays before I put them in, which makes it so much easier when you start a new set! Just as well really, pretty sure eating Bonjela in the quantities I was probably isn't a good idea.....
