Elsewhere! Are you ok??? You seem really distressed by the whole thing. Hope things have got better for you over the last week.
I'm strongly consideringI just can't imagine 17 months of my life looking/speaking like that (was supposed to be 12! thanks for lying doctor!).
Has anyone abandoned their treatment and found an alternative? maybe wore trays only at night?
Elsewhere, give yourself some more time to get used to the trays. It gets better, believe me! The lisp will disappear, and you'll [almost] even forget you have them on.
Don't give up!

Don't you want Straight Teeth? That's what kept me going!
and trust me the Lisp goes away! I had a lisp that only lasted 1-2 tray(s), after that my mouth got used to it and everything went great!

Almost!
It really does get better, elsewhere. Its partly because you get used to it after a surprisingly short time and partly because you discover all the tricks that make it easier. Also, although it feels at first as though you're not getting anywhere with the treatment, I'm only on 5/18 and I am already seeing changes (my teeth look absolutely terrible so perhaps that makes things easier for me - I am SO motivated by the thought of them being straight!)
So I would say hang in there if you possibly can.
round one 18/18 done! round two 3/6
I can honestly say I have never gotten used to them and I've had then since the end of march.
Elsewhere:
I absolutely hated them when I first got them - as much as you and Lovelydaze. I had no idea I would so many attachments (they told me I'd probably just have one). I'm also a CONSTANT snacker -- so I was really flustered and thought of just giving up on the whole thing.
I'm on Tray 5 now, and I must say... I've really gotten used to them. I wear mine for 2 and half weeks ... but I only have them in for like 19 hours per day. Honestly -- I cannot just eat and drink for only 2 hours per day - especially on weekends when I want to go to the bar and have a few drinks.
No one has noticed my invisalign.
thanks guys, you all really help! unbelievable how some moral support can boost my strenght!
I will give it a shot for as long as I can and if it doesn't get easier I'll just wear them at night, at home and whenever it's convenient to see if maybe within 10 years my teeth shift lol I'm fine with the way they look right now anyways.
I understand Invisalign can't guarantee results unless you stick to the routine they recommend but all I really want is to stop my teeth from moving towards each other
Hi elsewhere,
I struggled just like you at the beginning of my treatment (I'm on tray 5 now). I remember there were some points where I would just take my aligners out for 5 minutes to 'let my teeth breathe' because I was thinking about them non-stop. That and the lisp and brushing and the pressure on my teeth, I couldn't believe what I signed up for.
I have to say things improved a lot for me, but I've come to terms with the fact that I know I will always have something covering my teeth. It gets easier. Everyone was telling me this and now I am at the stage where I can pass on the support to you.
I don't know how old you are, but the older you are the faster time passes by. Sure 17 months sounds daunting but I promise it will feel like a blink once you finish your treatment. I've found writing out smaller countdowns on my calendar have really helped because then I have more things to celebrate over.
I hope you give your treatment a try, and just come to terms with wearing them for at least 20 hours a day. Think of it this way: the more you wear them, the less time you'll have them in. It can also be the case that if you're doing well with your treatment the treatment time might decrease. That's always exciting so use that as motivation.
good luck! (oh and also take pictures of your teeth to make time go by and to have comparisons to make)
