    when does IPR happen?

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere - I'm sorry for asking again if so...

If IPR is going to be done, when in the course of treatment does it happen? I'm at 6/18 of mine and my ortho hasn't mentioned it yet, though way back when I had my first consultation she did mention it as something that can be part of the invisalign treatment.

Would I have had it already if I needed it? Or does it happen mid-treatment? Or is it something that's generally done at the refinement stage?

(My next appt isn't for quite a few weeks, otherwise I would just ask my ortho!)
round one 18/18 done! round two 3/6

It all depends on how your ortho plan to treat your teeth. Every case is different. The main purpose of IPR is to create space to align or straighten the teeth so it would happen before that space(s) is required. Since not all teeth are treated at the same time, the timing of IPR if needed would be different.

I had severe crowding on my front teeth and my IPR's were done before the molds were even taken. I have none during the course of treatment so far (about 16 months). I know I'll have some minor IPR's towards the end (probably next Jan) to close up the little black triangles between my front teeth.

It depends on your teeth and your ortho. I had it both my first and second appts, but on my last one he checked the space between my teeth and said I didn't need it this time. So if he hasn't done it yet, then your teeth probably have enough space to move and you don't need it yet.

There is preplanned IPR, that is part of the ClinCheck and unplanned IPR, that is determined by the doctor.

Preplanned IPR will be designated at various stages. There is a plan to perform the IPR and specific stages, but it can be done as long as proper access is achievable. Keep in mind that, even though IPR is planned, it may not be required if there is already space.

Unplanned IPR may be required if there is not enough space for the teeth to move, and there is no plan for it in the ClinCheck. Just like not performing IPR even though it is planned, unplanned IPR is going to require the experience and skill of your doctor.

I was also told at the beginning of the process that I'd be needing it (most likely).
I completely forgot about it and I went in to get trays 7 and 8 and thats when they did mine.
Total breeze, quick and easy! I'm going in tomorrow to get my final trays (9 and 10)!

I've had IPR all along and more planned in the next two visits. I'm on 6/19. Very crowded upper.
