    How long before people noticed?

    Hi,

I'm new to Invisalign and have only told my close family and friends about it.

I'm a teacher and dreading going back to work after the Christmas holidays and seeing the children's reaction!

Did many people notice your Invislaign or did you manage to 'hide' it quite well?!

What were peoples' reactions when they found out or you told them?!

    Hi Kezza -
I work in a school as well and my kiddos will say absolutely anything that pops into their heads with no filter. I'm currently on #10/33, so I've been wearing my aligners for about 19 weeks and thus far, not one student (or any staff member that doesn't know) has said anything to me. Trust me when I say that you are more self-conscious about them than anyone else is. Just relax and enjoy your job. There is nothing wrong with wanting to straighten your teeth, so there is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about should anyone ask. Just enjoy the journey and look forward to the straight teeth in your future!

I've been wearing mine since June and a few people that I see fairly frequently just noticed them yesterday, and only because someone who knew I wore invisalign brought it up. I think they're pretty noticeable but I'm constantly surprised to hear people didn't know.

When I got mine, everyone noticed! Unfortunately my trays weren't so invisible, I had 4 attachments on my top front teeth, and I have a knack for smiling
Basically whenever I had a face to face conversation the person I was talking to noticed them.

and I feel since invisalign isn't like your ordinary metal braces people would become more curious with the strange plastic in your mouth, well for me that's what happened.

If Anything I would recommend to just come out and say I have invisalign! You'd be surprised at how many people thought they were cool! hahaha

    Welcome!

I've had mine for about a month and no one has noticed the aligners on my teeth. What people (at work) have noticed is that I'm always in the rest room cleaning my teeth. After seeing me cleaning my teeth at least a half dozen times in a week, one lady said something like, "oh we should all be that good with cleaning our teeth" and then I proceeded to tell her that it was for a reason...

Another girl asked me why I was always in the rest room "getting pretty" and I proceeded to tell her as well. Everyone's suprised to find out that I have them because you can't really tell otherwise. Don't worry, you'll be fine at work. At least you have time to get use to talking with the aligners in before school starts back up. The slight lisp that it gave me in the beggining was the biggest give away (in my mind). But no one really noticed that either. :-) Good luck!

I've been very discreet about mine. I haven't even told my mother. Only two people have ever commented on my Invisalign. One of my outspoken colleagues noticed right away and said "Oh, so you got braces?!?!?" And after five minutes of speaking to my sister in law who hadn't seen me in months, she blurted "oh so you got Invisalign!!! How do you like it?!?"

Both of these people are very familiar with Invisalign because they have had close friends/family members who wore Invisalign. So I think people may notice it more if they've seen it before.

My question is, why havent people noticed your teeth seem to be shifting. Lol

The Crime: Protruding upper canine, upper and lower crowding.
    Sentence: 2 years
    Fine: $4,100
First day with brackets: 12/05/2011. 4 Extractions: 12/12/11. 1st Adjustment: 01/04/12. 2nd Adjustment: 2/15/12 Pulling the canine down. 3rd Adjustment 3/28/12 (canine's in the wire, and pulled into position!). 4th adjustment: 5/16/2012 (closing the gaps!)

    Thanks everyone!

We had family and friends over yesterday and nobody noticed! I had to ask at the end of the night if they had noticed anything different about me -- after a long look (I was smiling) they suggested I had had Botox! (Bonus!) I'm so pleased they didn't notice and once they all knew they started asking lots of questions as they want straight teeth too.

Needed this little positive note as I'm 6 days in and finding it hard. The roof of my mouth (just behind my front teeth) feels very sensitive and tender. I'm also really struggling to get my top tray out. Can anyone explain how to use the hook or know where I can find a demo?

I can't remember anyone asking me about my Invisalign for the 18 months I had them on.

Maybe they noticed but didn't care enough to say anything?

I had more reaction after I was done and started whitening.

I echo Mr. Vanity. If you have attachments on the upper teeth, especially the front teeth, a goodly number of people are going to notice them and they are not so invisible. Sometimes I wonder if it would be easier just to have visible braces, because although people know something is off with your teeth, they don't exactly figure out what/why without explanation.

So far I've had mine on for 3 weeks and not one person has asked me about them. I've only told a few people I'm wearing them but other than those people, the subject has not come up. I recently had pictures taken and I told the photographer to wait so I can remove my Invisalign trays...he was dumbfounded. He kept asking me what I had to remove and was intently 'eyeing' my mouth as I kept pointing to my teeth. He couldnt tell and was surprised when I showed him. LOL
