Really Need To Pay For Invisalign

I really need your help guys. I am in my mid-twenties and work in a professional setting so traditional braces are not an option for me. Please excuse my stubbornness, but I'm just trying to avoid suggestions of traditional braces.

I am interested in Invisalign but do not have the money to pay for it. The ortho office I visited had a "home-made" version similar to Invisalign but I didn't seem to qualify. I was quoted at almost $7,000.

I am a full-time college student but ortho is not covered under my parents' insurance. They offered a payment plan, loan but my credit was denied.

Is there a cheaper way to get the Invisalign? I really, really want this done. Is there a way to get ortho insurance at this point that would make it cheaper in the long run?

    What would you guys do?!

Save up for it? Put aside a couple hundred per month or whatever you can afford. I really can't think of anything else you can do besides maybe putting it on a credit card, though that might be really risky and you'd have to pay lots of interest. I personally didn't get Invisalign until I was 27 and could afford it on my own.

PS: the "home-made" invisalign sounds super sketchy, so I'd avoid that entirely.

Yeah, save up I'm afraid... I'm almost 40 and can now afford it. My full invisalign cost £4,000 - it might be worth you shopping around to see if there's anyone that could do it cheaper.

    Refinements U9 & L9 of 13 or 16?!

I know you didn't want suggestions against it, but I think you should get over the "professional setting so traditional braces are not an option for me." No matter what braces you get, people will notice eventually, and honestly, do not care. I have traditional braces, but I also have the clear ceramic ones because I am also in my mid twenties, and didn't want a metal mouth.

I paid mine in full ($3,700 no insurance).

Here's a link to my ceramic photos... They're really not that bad. http://www.bracesreview.com/forums/b...races-25-2189/

This is true. My sister in law noticed right away. People notice my Invisalign, they just don't bring it up. If I could do it again, I'd think long and hard about ceramic braces, because Invisalign is a serious pain in the neck.

Depending on where you live you could try to find a Groupon for invisalign. they continue to offer them around the USA, costs is about 2600-3000$, make sure to do your homework on the provider and what is covered. But, the price is right.

Check with other providers if you can. Mine offered 3 choices - pay up front with discount, no down payment but credit card/loan with no interest, down payment (about 1/3 of the total) and the rest covered by office with interest free payments over about 2 years (which I chose to do). So if I get done in about 14 months like first set of trays is, I'll actually be finishing paying for everything after I'm done. I also have a medical flex spending account through work (pretax) which I started using in December so this next year's will be covered via that. Money isn't missed as much if it was taken out in advance of me seeing bottom line of paycheck.

If you're referring to Care Credit, I'd just advise that folks be very careful with that card and know that if you don't pay the entire balance in full within 2 years, they lump ALL of the interest together and capitalize it all at once. I had a root canal and dental implant done while I was a starving grad student, and Care Credit was my only option

As others have said, either save up for it, or wait until you get your credit together and can qualify for a loan/care credit.

I'm just getting invisalign at 31 years old! There's really no rush. Just wait until you're in a better situation and can afford it. I would definitely stay away from a "home made" version and get the real thing which seems to be a lot cheaper than what you were quoted. (my invisalign cost $5500 in PA)

    Good luck!

My ortho offers an in-house payment plan with 15% down and the rest spread out over 24 months, and no interest or credit check. It was the only option for me and has worked out great. I'd think that surely there are other orthos out there that offer a similar payment option. And if not, then they should.
