Top/Bottom Tray Number Question?

I have 16 trays for the top and 42 for the bottom! My top teeth were almost perfect to start with, and my bottom teeth were extremely crowded. I am currently on tray #14. So that means I only have 2 left for the top and they are even more perfect than I thought they ever could be! Minus a new gap that I got in my front top teeth that will be fixed with a refinement.

My question is, I have 2 trays left for the top BUT MANY left for the bottom. Will I only be wearing the bottom tray and not the top when I am finished with the top very soon or will I still be stuck all that time with a top tray AND top attachments until I am done completely with the bottom as well? Will I get the top attachments removed or anything?

Just curious how that works for anybody that had more trays for top/bottom than the other.

This is going to depend on what your doctor has planned for you. You may go into retainers for the upper arch while waiting for the lower to be completed. However, they won't likely be Invisalign retainers because ordering Invisalign retainers at this stage will take away the possibility of mid course correction or refinement.

We often try to keep treatment the same number of trays for the upper and lower so that we don't run into this issue. Speak to your doctor and figure out what your options are .
