Tray 14 and IPR today

Hello everyone,

I have been MIA for awhile. I am on tray 14 now with 6 to go on first round. Some of my trays have been tight but pretty uneventful. Teeth have moved a lot and time is flying by. I am hoping for minimal time to wear refinements. I have been wearing them 21-22 hours a day so hopefully that will help.

Any advice on IPR?

What does "IPR" stand for?

Interproximal reduction (IPR) is the removal of small amounts of outer enamel tooth surface between two adjacent teeth. It is a means to acquire additional space to create ideal tooth alignment. Alternative names include: slenderizing, stripping, enamel reduction, and reproximation.

If one has say some more triangular shaped front teeth, do they do IRP to make things line up or would they just have some black triangle gaps normally.?

IPR can be done to help reduce black triangles if they are due to the shape of the teeth being wider at the incisal edges than at the gums.

So I had my IPR today and it went pretty well. No pain involved but i do have gaps now between my bottom front teeth. It is not noticeable with trays on but will take some getting use to when I have them off. I have 6 trays left for the round and my ortho has said the gaps should close by then. I am crossing my fingers the gaps close quickly.

Has anyone else had IPR? How long did the teeth take to move into place?
