It depends on how much IPR you had and the movements your doctor has planned. Most Invisalign patients with crowding issues have IPR.
I had my IPR yesterday and it went pretty well. No pain involved but i do have gaps now between my bottom front teeth. It is not noticeable with trays on but will take some getting use to when I have them off. My bottom teeth are a bit sore but I think it is from my tray not the IPR. I have 6 trays left for the round and my ortho has said the gaps should close by then. I am crossing my fingers the gaps close quickly.
Has anyone else had IPR? How long did the teeth take to move into place?
Thanks for listening.

Is IPR something that appears to be necessary during the tratment or it is something planned and known that it must happen in some moment from the very beginning? I mean nobody has informed me about future IPR - can I be sure that I will not need it? I don't want IPR, don't want my teeth to be sledered more and if it appears to be necessary in some moment I would prefer to change the treatment or to get refinements and leave the treatment with not perfet aligned teeth and then if it is something it really bothers me hopefully can be corrected with some bonding or veneers
I've had lots. Don't worry, they'll close up - unless your ortho took off too much![]()
U31 & L23 finished.
Refinements U9 & L9 of 13 or 16?!
IPR is indicated on the treatment plan in the ClinCheck but it experienced doctors will know to use this only as a guide. Sometimes we don't IPR even if we had planned to in the ClinCheck and other times we do unplanned IPR. It all depends on the movement of the teeth.

I think I can already see movement of the bottom teeth, so excited to keep moving along with my trays. I am hoping my second round is not as long since I am now planning a wedding.I want my teeth to look their best and am not sure how much longer i will need to go. I am also have a new bridge and whitening done so hopefully second round is short.

Anyone have to plan around a wedding?
I have never been talking about IPR with my ortho and I expect that if it is planned she should have told me. But.... as I am looking at the trays it seems that my front upper tooth is somehow slenderized in my tray number 10. Does it mean that IPR is planed about it? I don't want IPR and if some black triangles must prevented I would prefer bonding or veneers. Is it possible if on some of my next visits to the ortho if she wants IPR me to reject it and to change the treatment plan because of this? In general I think that it is not fair the dentist to take decisions about IPR without asking the patient first.
I would think your ortho should have told you when reviewing your plan. I know that when I go in for my next set of trays I have to have more attachments added (to the dreaded front tooth -yea). She has also told me when to expect the IPR's even though they are not for several more months. Though I am not thrilled about them, I would rather know than have it sprung on me when I am in the chair picking up my trays. Bad form to do that anyone

All patients should be informed of attachments and IPR before they decide to begin treatment. Unfortunately, Align's site doesn't mention anything about these procedures and some doctors don't talk about them because they are afraid patients will reject treatment with them. My personal preference is to have patients understand exactly what we need to do.
For the most part, if you want to avoid attachments and IPR, then you are not allowing the orthodontist to use all the tools he/she has available to correct your smile.
@Jensen If you have your aligner 10 already and aren't due to go back to the doctor before using it, and haven't had IPR yet, either they forgot about the IPR or you don't actually need it for that stage. It is not really possible to look at an aligner and determine that you had IPR. Note that there are times when we also do unplanned IPR, so using the ClinCheck is only a guide for when IPR is completed.

I have appointment before I use tray 10, but I have got all my trays home, because I was curious to investigate themOrtho said that she has not ordered IPR for my from LOWER teeth so I will get black riangle in the end and it is OK for me, I have told her. But she has never said anything abot IPR on the front UPPER teeth. Of course I am not 100 % sure that it is supposed to have IPR, but as I am looking at the trays the tooth look obviously more slender than it is on the previous trays.
CAn IPR be done during the process if it wasn't incorporated into the original clinicheck? I think I'm going to have a little RED triangle on the bottom where two teeth are a bit more V shaped than straight, but I don't know if IPR was originally planned.
