Did Invisalign give you a lisp? + Few questions (need quick answers please)

So I am going to a new orthodontist tomorrow who is said to be the best in my city.
She's been doing Invisalign for a long time, and though I think she is a little expensive, you really get what you pay for.

Did invisalign give anybody a lisp? Or even make you look any different (if that makes sense) ?
Reason why I am getting Invisalign is because of my age, and my profession(consultant), I personally wouldn't feel comfortable.

    Any inputs are also appreciated.
Also, the price range I was told was about 5000USD more or less, does that sound about right?

    Thanks guys!

I was warned that I might develop a slight lisp but haven't at all so far (on tray 6 of 21). If you have attachments, which most people do, they will be noticeable to a degree but it depends on where you have them. I was a bit concerned too as I do a lot of training in my job but no one has ever said anything or seemed to notice. I suspect that sometimes people do but they don't say anything. You could always google images of people wearing invisalign to get an idea (i.e. not marketing ones!)

I was so worried about having a lisp before I got my Invisalign. But was so happy once I put them on I haven't had a lisp at all. On 20/23 upper and lower right now.

    Hi,

Yes, I had a lisp for about a week when I first got my aligners. I also notice as I'm getting nearer the end of my treatment and the aligners are giving me a lisp if I have them out a little too long. My friends think I'm putting it on sometimes, but I swear I'm not! lol!

I had a little difficulty with my /s/ sounds on the first tray or two, but adapted quickly and haven't had any lisping issues since (on tray 12 now). And as of now, no one has noticed (or at least hasn't said anything to me), but most of my movements have been in the back so far and I don't have any attachments on my front teeth.

I had a lips for about 4 days and then it went away as well, they aren't so visible i also have attachments (buttons), I work for a plastic surgeon and not one patient has realized that I am wearing them but they first couple of days were ruff for me but not so bad that I couldn't work, just was weird talking. I paid $6,000 but i also have 56 trays and have a overjet, overbite, crowding and have no extractions. So therefore I am a difficult case.
Started Invisalign Tray #1 on 1~06~2012

Attachments on 1~20~2012 ......they are so tight
On FEB 17th Started Tray #4 and ORTHO said I can start switching trays every 10 days !!!!!

    56- U
    56- L

Switching trays every 10 days... so about a year and a half from now I'll be done....

I am on my second tray and I am still lisping, especially on the S's. My mouth and tongue get tired too, especially in loud social environments. In my case, the trays are causing an open gap in my front teeth due to a correction of a crossbite, which seems to be exacerbating the bad speech problem. I am told this may take some months before I see improvement. I'm been managing my time so that when I truly need to be heard clearly, I take them out.

Each new tray gives me what I call a whistling 's'. But it only lasts a day or two and then goes away. They only make me look different in the fact that I smile all time, where before I always kept my mouth shut or covered my mouth with my hand when I talked or laughed. And if anyone has noticed them, they haven't said anything to me.
Currently on trays 22 of 28 U/L --- OVER HALFWAY DONE!

I have got mere lisp, because I have have always had "s" with the tongue between teeth and that's why I always sound strange to people who hear me speaking for 1st time. So - not much negative change in this direction. But I look a bit different with trays on (actaully better than without) - they give better prportionality my lips. But it is because the trays have pushed my jew inside a bit (and continue with pushing) and this has made me look with closed mouth a bit like an old lady who has lost her teeth. And wonther how I will correct this issue because I already don't like myself (without trays).

The very first day I had a light lisp, but after that it just disappeared.
I don't know if language is a factor here, but I live in a non-English speaking country. Different pronunciations may be altered [or not] differently, if that makes any sense.

I had lisp as well when I first started. I had to give presentation my first week. Between my mouth being dry and problem with my "S" I could not wait for it to be over. Luckily it was over the phone, I would have really been a mess had it been in person.

youll have a lisp for the first couple hours or so as you get used to them but you adapt very quickly. As an above poster said, if you have them out to eat for awhile, your lisp might be present again for like 5 minutes till you get used to them again but nothing to be worried about, it goes away fast.

The lisp can be decreased by having aligners that fit snugly to the teeth. This will require a perfect PVS impression or an intraoral scan.

The aligners do not hug the teeth at the start of each aligner since they have to be shaped slightly differently from the teeth in order to move them. You may find that your lisp gets better the longer you wear each stage.

I wondered why my refinements are a much better fit than the last lot, the initial treatment trays did not cover the whole of the tooth therefore the trays were really obvious. These ones go right up to the gum line - much better!

I'm also wondering if they're production process has improved as these are more comfortable with no rough edges to file down. Or maybe this is just a lucky first tray
    U31 & L23 finished.
    Refinements U9 & L9 of 13 or 16?!

Could be a number of things including:

-increased experience of the office in providing the impressions for the trays.
-doctor may have changed their preference for the height of the trays.
-teeth are more in alignment now, and the amount of movement per tray may be different, leading to better fit and fewer edges that are away from the teeth.
-you are now more used to wearing trays and your tongue knows how to "navigate" around without getting scraped.

As far as I know, there haven't been any changes in the manufacturing cycle.
