    Is this ethical?

I was provided clincheck videos prior to signing the contract to go with InvisiAlign. The lower teeth showed some attachments in the video while the upper teeth showed none. I wasn't ecstatic about seeing the lower attachments in the Clincheck, but I was grateful not to see them in the upper teeth, which I realized would be far more visible. So my orthodontist did not inform me of a need of attachments on the top teeth at all. I showed up at my attachment appointment to have plenty of attachments put on my upper teeth. Needless to say, I was disappointed because, hell, those attachments on the upper teeth turn out to be SUPER OBVIOUS. If I had seen those in accurate clincheck videos, I'm sure I would have had some extra questions about how those would affect my treatment and appearance. Has this happened to any of you?

I saw my clincheck for the first time at the appointment where the attachments were put on and my first try fitted. It never occurred to me that I would have a *say* in my treatment as I paid good money to have an expert make those decisions for me!

However, prior to me 'signing up' to the treatment (way before impressions/x rays were taken), she went through everything with me. She told me i'd have attachments and explained the importance of them and also that I might not get a perfect Hollywood smile but I went ahead anyway as I trusted she'd do the best that could be done.

It seems a shame that your ortho didn't explain the treatment clearly to you before you parted with your cash. After saying that, I don't agree that patients should get to tweek their treatment based on asthetics alone. Trust your ortho - those attachments are important if you want the best possible outcome.
    U31 & L23 finished.
    Refinements U9 & L9 of 13 or 16?!

It's amazing how quickly you get used to them too. I thought mine were hideously obvious at first, but then I stopped noticing them. In my experience, when you have your aligners in they don't show too much at all.

I would say your orthodontist was only unethical if he/she specifically assured you that you wouldn't have upper attachments as a means to get you to sign up. Otherwise I'm afraid I think they haven't done anything wrong.
