These are designations based on the number of cases a doctor has submitted to Align Tech, the maker of Invisalign. Align, as a manufacturer, does not monitor any treatments conducted by a doctor unless s/he pays for the Invisalign Assist service. The designations do not reflect a doctor’s abilities in orthodontic treatment, how complex their cases are or how many cases they have successfully completed.
There are cases where doctors use promotions or discounts to pump up their number of cases submitted/sold to achieve the designations, or combine cases with other doctors and promote themselves as a practice with designations. As a result, there are elite providers with very little Invisalign experience.
Here’s info directly from Invisalign’s web site… “… It is your responsibility to independently determine if a particular provider is right for you. Align makes no guarantee or assurance of any particular treatment outcome or that you will be an eligible candidate for Invisalign treatment ….The Invisalign Advantage program designations (e.g., Premier Provider and Premier Provider Elite) are primarily based on the relative number of historical Invisalign cases a dentist or orthodontist has submitted…. Please ask about the individual Invisalign experience of any doctor you consider....”
