    Irregular bite, hard to eat

    Hello,
less than a week with Invisalign. I have a question regarding the bite.
When I bite down all the way, my top teeth rest on 1 or a couple buttons. What this practically means is that I cannot FULLY bit down without it being painful (biting hard on the button surface isn't friendly!).

Is this normal? Should the button placement consider the bite so I can 'eat as usual' as they advertise? I also removed one of my front lower teeth, so I wonder if that affected it as well.

Right now, anything that requires a hard chew, or is very fine (e.g., lettuce leaves), its very difficult. I'm essentially biting down to 98% of my bite, having to stop before going all the way down (so anything that require a fine chew, its very difficult).

These buttons are essential for the 'leverage', I'm wondering if they can be 'sanded' down at the points of contact with my upper teeth so I can chew normally without affecting the effectiveness of the button's purpose.

    Thanks.

This problem does happen sometimes. You should ask your doctor about the placement of your attachments and what he can do so you could chew properly. Your doctor is the one who designed and approved your treatment plan and should be able to address any specific questions/ issues you have during your treatment.

It's worth talking to your provider about. But at least for me, my bite has been off for a couple of months and not just because of attachments. I was told it would get worse before it got better again as all of the realignment of my teeth takes place. It is starting to get better but for a while it's been tough to chew anything fine or anything tough with my molars as they don't touch. I was told my bite would be fine when I am done and I am counting on that.

I have the same problem with one button. It effective blocks me from biting down on the left side of my mouth.

My ortho said that there's really nothing that can be done. Shaving down the button will reduce it's effectiveness, and it's needed on that tooth at this stage. He also said that the problem would get better as the teeth move into position, and would be gone in a few months.

I have the same experience as Bekster45. My bite is really off at the moment which at times will cause my jaw to really pop. My dentist has told me that this is all part of the process and in the end my bite will be fine.

I had a big problem, the same as yours, with an attachment in the beginning. This attachment fell 8 hours after I got my invisalign. Then I replased it and the problem appeared again. I expected that it will fall again but this time it didn't and one week later I didn't really pay so much attention to it. I don't know if I have got used to it or my teeth have moved so that the button is not such a big problem anymore. I still don't bite right but it doesn't feel as a big problem
