Rubber bands with invisalign . . . Question

Hi everyone! This is my first post. I started invisalign express 5 weeks ago. So far I haven't noticed any movement and am pretty disappointed. I've take pictures every other week when I switch trays and can't see any difference. I only need to move 2 teeth - they are a little higher than the rest and need to come down a little bit. The one also shifted over so they did ipr so it can fit back in its spot. My dentist said I may need rubber bands but ....since I only have invisalign on the top (they said I didn't need it on the bottom) how will they attach the rubber bands? I'm worried if the rubber bands are anchored to my bottom teeth, then those teeth may move and I don't want that!

I hope i explained this ok - Any advice you have is appreciated!

This is a very valid concern. Just like in high school physics, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore, if there is something on your bottom teeth, there will need to be an anchor of some sort to help prevent undesired movements.

In my experience, if there is a need for rubber bands, there are large enough movements that it may require more than the 10 aligners available with Express. Still, your doctor knows your treatment best, so please make sure you let him/her know about your concerns.

Thanks for the response. I have a bonded retainer on my lower 6 teeth (from when I had braces) but it isn't attached to each tooth, it is attached to the two end teeth and just resting close to the others.

Would they be able to use just one tooth on the bottom to anchor the rubber bands (one of the teeth that the retainer is attached to is right underneath the tooth that has to come down)? Or would invisalign send me a bottom tray? I heard it doesn't cost any less to just get uppers.

Chloe9212. I have upper and lower aligners but on the bottom aligner there is a notch cut out and a metal bracket glued directly to my very back tooth. The bottom aligner does not support the elastic at all. Technically I could not have a bottom aligner just like in your case. I suppose this bracket will get popped off just like traditional brackerts do at the end of treetment.
