which braces.. horse teeth (i am completly new to this braces world ;) )
Hi,
I am 21 and from Croatia. Never have braces before, and finaly I realized I just need them because I have a bit "horse teeth", upper teeth too much to the front, and I suppose lower too much inside, and whole jaw should be a bit wider so front teeth have place to go back here are pictures of my teeth ![]() and the question, can invisible make my jaw wider? I will go to orthodontics after I do some reading on forums Last edited by croatian_girl; 03-25-2008 at 02:06 PM. |

Set up a couple consultations, find out what you are suited for, and then do your research on what would be best for you. |

Hi, thanks for quick reply.
I know only orthodont can give anwser, but I want to be informed before going @Janesays - hej, this are my teeth with spontenuos smile - ![]() I know I dont need much to correct, but believe that in the end it will be much because to make jaw wider isnt so fast job!? btw. while you eat you must put away invisalign?? i eat and drink whole day, would have to stop that? have you had bite(byte?) issue and have invisalign? Hi croatian_girl and welcome to this forum!
Your teeth, bite and smile look great and you definitely have a wide smile, with more teeth showing than many do even after orthodontic treatment. Your teeth appeaer to come together nicely at the back (although this can only be truly seen by x-rays and moulds), and this would indicate that you will not need your jaws widened, and this will also mean your case should be a simple one, which may mean that invisalign would be okay, if an ortho can find something hat needs doing to your teeth. Brenda (Punkin) is totally correct when she writes that only an orthodontic can answer your questions and that you need to make appointments to see two or three to have consultations. At these appointments you will get the opportunity to ask questions about the types of orthodontic treatment you need, if any. It's important that you choose an orthodontist you can communicate easily with. Quote:
Good luck with yor research. |

hi, thanks for reply.
my teeth upper and lower do fit each other, so i never tought i have bite issue, but how can braces put my 2-4 front teeth back if you dont make space in jaw for them, so believe a little wider jaw will be needed. anyways, i will research a bit and then visit few orthodontists i didn't quite understand - does it mean that invisalign CAN NOT make jaw wider? |

croatian_girl archwires do most of the widening, by rounding the arch, not widening the 'real' jaw line. As your upper and lower arch look to meet beautifully, I hope an ortho wouldn't want to widen your arches. If it's felt necessary to move your upper front teeth back, there are options. One is to remove a small amount of enamel from the sides of teeth, to create space for these teeth to move back to. You do need to talk to a few orthodontists, as your case looks very minor and it's important for you to find our what (if anything) needs doing to your teeth/bite.

Invisalign can reshape how the teeth fit the jaw, but only surgery can widen a jaw after your body reachs maturity and your bones fuse. Good luck! |

mariahfrom chicago, Sunny, thanks for reply!
Sunny - by making jaw wider I meant arch, not bone (its hard to express in English) So, it is possible to make arch a bit wider for front teeth to go a bit back with invisalign?? how long do you wear invisalign in minor cases like mine? cca? i am also afraid that i could only make situation worse because i have already nice teeths, and upper and lower meat beautifully. croatian_girl the arch can be reshaped using invisalign. You need to get advice from a few ortho's to find out if you should be doing anything to your already lovely bite, as if it's only minor, you will need to decide if it's worth treating.
How long you'd need to wear invisalign? Only trained providers of Invisalign can give you this information. Please make sure you consult with more than one orthodontist ... two or three would be recommended. Good luck! |
