    What good is insurance?

I had braces put on about 2 months ago and at the time we decided to remove my wisdom teeth because, let's face it, i don't need them and because i have a cyst on my lower right and a cyst on my upper left wisdom teeth.

My oral surgeons office just called and said neither of my medical insurances will cover it. But when i had called i was told that it would be covered in full because they're "boney-impacted teeth". I don't get it. The discovery of the cysts has made their removal imperative because they will literally destroy my jaw over time and can become cancerous. I think that calls as a legitimate medical procedure.

I'm already paying out of pocket for my braces which are running me over $5,000. How the heck am i supposed to afford surgery too. What am i paying these companies for anyway?!

Extractions, even of impacted wisdom teeth, would be covered under dental, not medical insurance, typically. I'd be very surprised to see dental insurance exclude a medically necessary extraction ... if that's what's giong on, I'd say that you should get in touch with them, and also get the oral surgeon, and/or the referring dentist to write up a more carefully worded justification of the need.
I am not a dental professional.

As it says on the main Bracesreview.com page, always consult a qualified orthodontist, dentist, or medical professional with questions you may have.
