It looks like I need phy ther to open wider

    Hi all

I saw the surgeon today. He's still pleased with my healing and jaw position. I'm finally off the liq diet.

But I'm still only able to open just a little. He's going to send me to a physical therapist to help me open wider. I'll probably be going 2-3 times per week once I get the authorization from my insurance. He said this happens in about 10% of cases. I guess that shouldn't be too big of a deal. Have any of you been through this? I'd like to get a better idea of what to expect at my appointments.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Most of our surgery patients have PT and need to exercises to widen their bite. This is often done with the sticks like those in ice blocks ... not sure what you'd call them, but the sticks you hold when you're licking a frozen ice water lollie thingie.

Good luck with your treatment Jeff!
After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
