over bite by 10mm

My poor child has an overbite measured at 10 mm. I am so irritated because back 2006 I took my child to an ortho who recommended waiting for the herbst appliance, the ortho that will be treating her said that she should have started back then because my child was at a 6 mm. I blame myself for not getting a second opinion back then.

I know it can be tough being a parent and trying to find the best solution.

We try to stress on here as much as possible how important it is to get several opinions. Don't blame yourself though and just continue moving forward and your child will thank/love you for it later on

The treatment we decided on is traditional braces (I asked about clear braces but the financial gal told me that the base stains badly) rubber bands and my child agreed to wear head gear at night to help with treatment (the doctor didn't recommend it but was thrilled that we brought it up). My child will have to wear retainers for life too. I hope the overbite can be fixed this way and no teeth are being pulled at this point. Sounds good?
