    No idea exactly when but...

I'll be getting upper and lower jaw surgery for my underbite within the next year or so. I've had my braces since February and I'm really anxious to just get the surgery but I know it doesn't work that way. Anyway what they'll be doing with me is this, at least tentatively...

    - Move upper jaw forward, lower jaw back.
    - Cut bottom part of the chin and move forward to give a more pointed look.
    - Cheek implants (bone or some other type I have no idea).

Has anyone else had anything done anything like this? It should be a pretty major facelift judging by all the things the surgeon will be attempting to do.

You're going through a good portion of what I'll be getting done. Only difference is they won't be removing part of my chin, but that's never been a concern (I actually like my chin). I don't know if the OMS is going to recommend the cheek implants, but my ortho says it's a possibility since they're going to move my upper jaw forward and may need to for symmetry.

If you'd like to see what I'm going through, you can see my blog, The Ugly Duckling. I also recommend you go to YouTube and enter "underbite surgery" in the search field. You'll find plenty of videos that will show you before and after results of people who have had this surgery done, and them sharing their experiences.

I'm only at the start of my journey having had 2 teeth removed to get ready for spacers in 2 weeks and braces in 3 weeks. My orthodontist is estimating 6 months of braces (I hope) before surgery, but I'm willing to ride this out as long as it takes.

    Good luck.
