Underbite ?

ok so im 15 i wore braces and something at the top of my mouth it was an expnder or something for 4 years and i got them off yesterday ok and the doctor did mention at the beggening of the treatment that my underbite might not be fixed completely but he said that he was sure he could make it better now thats over i have them off and i have to wear a retainer but im thinking what now i still have an underbite my teeth are straight sure but the reason for this whole braces thing was to fix my underbite although ill admit he did a good job and he said my case was one of the worst cases he has ever seen the underbite is near fixed i mean my top teeth are centimeters from touching my bottom teeth and i just feel like im a position where i just have to wait until im old enough for surgery if this is my only option then fine but now im asking is there something else that could help my underbite a treatment or somethig surgery is just so farfetched and he says i cant get it if im under 18 so yah thank you

Ya, you need to wait for your jaw to stop growing before any decisions about surgery are made.

It's tough having to wait, but when you're young, it's necessary to wait to make sure the person has stopped growing, otherwise you could go through surgery and need it all again ... which would be worse than never having it.

It's great that your ortho has done such a great job! Good luck with your retainer wear, so that when you're right to have jaw surgery, you won't need much, if any other work.
