    NYC Jaw Surgeon Recommendation

    Hello Friends,
I am considering getting jaw surgery, and would love some trusted recommendations of doctors in the New York City area.

I have a definite overbite and small chin. Additionally, two years ago I woke up and my bite was shifted over to the right (I'm a teeth grinder). With this shift change, I could no longer jut my chin forward, nor open my mouth all the way when I yawned. It's time I had this looked at and taken care of.

Thank you in advance for your help,
    Stacey

I'm hoping to use Dr. Stuart Super this year in NYC, does surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, facesthatsmile.com I think is his website. I know he has a fund to help teens with bite problems pay for it if they have no insurance. He won't help me thru that because I'm an adult and with mine being cosmetic issue only so I've been waiting four years since I first saw him to try to gather enough money to pay for him, but honestly as outragious as his prices seemed, I called around and found it could even cost same or more elsewhere so I've stopped searching. But I haven't actually met anyone yet that used him. His website has a video though of a former patient and he's being interviewed by someone, maybe it was on some tv program or maybe he just made the video for his website, not sure, saw it while back, maybe it was on some local tv program, don't remember. I did like that unlike other docs he didn't try tell me that it wasn't worth it for cosmetic reasons only and that I was too old to bother with it now or that I am lovely looking the way I am and other crap I got from other docs. He was no nonesense, he had some special computer program to show me how the jaw would be moved and then a simulated before and after photo, which I love because it shows hopefully how much better I will look when done. I think a consult was like $200 or so, I think including the panoramic xray, but that was like 4 years ago. He seems like a bit of an older man too so I was hoping to get my darn surgery done before he retires so I hope I manage to get this done this year, maybe in May or so. Problem is I need acid reflux surgery bec mine goes up into my throat and meds don't work, the acid burns my throat after I eat and the throat gets sore after jaw surgery and I don't want have double problem of acid burning my already sore from surgery throat so I think I am forced to do the reflux surgery first, wait about 3 mos after that, then do my cosmetic jaw surgery. But I fear that if getting thru the reflux surgery is awful, I will be totally freaked out to go thru another traumatic surgery where the first couple days are hard and also for reflux I need spend 2 weeks on a liquid diet, then soft foods for another few I think. I am already underweight at 5'4 about 104 lbs, maybe less, have to check. I am terrified about losing weight and then giving myself only 3 mos to get it back up before I am on liquids and soft foods again. I wonder if I am trying to do too much in one year, but every year I wait longer, he raises his fees and the hospital does too so I already saw the price go up $10,000 in 4 years so I really wish I had found way to do it then, if only my dad was willing to help pay for it then, now we cost ourselves $10,000 by waiting and not my reflux is much worse than before and I just want move on with my life and not still have this looming over me.
