    Jaw surgery costs?

Hey, My name is Kyle and I was wondering if someone could help me with how I would go about paying for jaw surgery. I mean is there like college students who are learning that would do it free to learn? Also I live in Massachusetts and I get Mass Health if anyone knows anything about that would I be able to get them to cover it? Or a loan or make payments on it? Idk all I know is I want it done but the expenses are really high =/

You need to get a referral to an oral surgeon. Mine surgeon wrote a letter to my health insurance and they've agreed to pay it. I don't know how your insurance works, but mine will pay 100% if it's done out patient and 80% if I have to spend a night in the hospital.

Hey Kyle I also live in mass but im not covered under Mass Health. When I went in to speak with my oral surgeon that my ortho recommended me to ( at childrens hospital even thought I'm 20) They asked me for my insurance card then if it was recommended by the ortho for health reason or if it was cosmetic. I told them i had all the paper work from my ortho the records the plan of action everything and she said that it is likely my insurance will cover it. I'm not sure if Mass Health covers all surgeries or not as I don't have it but look into it and make sure if you ortho is recommending stuff you tell them cause it changes the difference. I hope I helped u out Kyle as much as I could.

Generally speaking those with a provable medical necessity for their jaw surgery, bite problems, chewing problems, speech problems, can get it covered and for those where it is purely cosmetic (like me) they are looking at needing anywhere from like $14,000 to $40,000 depending if one jaw or both and where you live and who you choose. Craziest thing I heard was NYU, they said even though it was through their teaching program, it was like $40,000 to $60,000. That didn't sound right to me because then why would anyone bother using them. Just go to a private doctor for less than that, geesh. I mean I found a doctor in NYC saying he'll do it for 30 something thousand.
