You need to make appointments to discuss your issues with your orthodontist. If your body has stopped growing, which usually happens during adolescence, bones cannot be moved other than by surgery.
Good luck!
Hi all,
I am an 18 year-old (turning 19 in August) and I have a Class II jaw that gives me a very weak chin. I had braces for 3 1/2 years; 3 years ago that I believe corrected my bite and alignment of my teeth, but not my weak chin and jaw.
Ever since I had my braces off I have had tmj and can not open my mouth without my jaw popping. It doesn't bother me now, but I feel like this could be a potential problem.
Am I too old for this to be corrected by some sort of functional orthodontic appliance in conjunction with braces that could move my lower jaw forward but keep my teeth and bite aligned?
Is surgery the answer to fix these problems? What would this entail in regards to procedure and the recovery process and it's duration?
Thanks!

After 5 years, 11 months and two days of stainless steel brackets ... my teeth now have upper and lower bonded, gold wire, retainers and removable clear retainers!
