Preparation?
So, I'm due surgery at the start of august. What they want to do is:
- Move my upper jaw upwards (correcting gummy smile)
- Move my upper jaw forwards (correcting severe under-bite)
- Move my lower jaw backwards (again, correcting severe under-bite)
- Remove my wisdom teeth (since they haven't shown up yet, to avoid hassle later in life)
and possibly
- Do something to my chin??? (depending on how my face looks once the jaws are sorted)
What I want to ask is, what can I do to prepare for this? The hospital gave me some energy drinks for the few days before to help me recover better from the anaesthetic and recommended a mouthwash, but does anybody have any helpful tips of things to do BEFORE I go in? Like, what sort of stuff is useful to take to hospital with me?
Any help or advice greatly appreciated!

I just had overbite surgery in May and here's some of what I did.
1. Make sure you have a good blender/food processor so you can basically liquify all your favorite foods.
2. Go to the store and stock up on foods you like to eat. When you're mouth is rubber banded shut, anything tastes good in mush form.
3. Get you some soft, flexible, baby spoons to eat foods with because regular spoons won't feel good initially.
4. Make sure you have plenty of flexible straws for milk shakes/smoothies.
5. I'd also make sure you have several ice packs or a refillable ice pack at home to help with swelling.
6. Have plenty of soft paper towels, wash cloths, etc. for keeping food off your face. Your face will be numb and stuff that's not soft will hurt.
Hope this helps. Good luck and keep us posted on your condition.

Thanks a lot, I hadn't even thought of some of those!
